Center Parcs is a fantastic place to have a great adventurous family holiday. There are so many different activities you can do, from animal experiences, thrill seeking activities and swimming pool experiences to forest walks and treasure hunting. There are things to do for all age ranges, from a teddy bears picnic for little ones, to quad bikes and high ropes for the adrenaline junkies and nature walks and pottery painting for those who like more relaxing experiences. The hardest part is choosing which ones. You can see all the activities here.
During our stay at Center Parcs Longleat we each chose an activity we wanted to do. My children were extremely excited at having a go at some mini jet skis, hubby chose aqua jetting and I had a go at Segway. First up were the children….
Mini Jet Skis
Our Mini jet ski session was booked for early saturday morning at the swimming pool (before it opened). The children were literally leaping around with excitement! We arrived and used the family changing room facilities which made things easy for us.
The lifeguards and instructors were very friendly and had a lot of patience with the children.
The kids were all kitted out with buoyancy aids before climbing onto their jet skis. Daddy got in the water with them, but he wasn’t really needed much as the children got the hang of it very quickly.
They all jetted around the pool chasing each other, having races and occasionally bumping into one another. They laughed and giggled, it was wonderful to watch them do something independently they’ve never tried before.
The only trouble was, they were having so much fun they didn’t want the session to end. But it was daddy’s turn next.
Aqua jetting
Aqua jetting is the use of a miniature submersible which allows you to be pulled along, twist and turn under the water. Hubby was also rather excited to try this (just like a big kid)!
He sat on the edge of the pool listening to the instructions before being allowed in the water to have a go. Everyone in the class took it slowly at first, but soon got the hang of it.
Hubby loved diving about under the water, which obviously made it rather difficult to get photos!
Everyone took a trip with their submersible round the lazy river which looked like a lot of fun.
Segway
I wasn’t so keen on going under the water, though I was actually quite jealous of hubby whilst watching him with the aqua jetting, so I decided on a Segway experience. I wanted to try something different and this was completely new to me.
I was a little nervous at first as we had to put on a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and gloves for protection, so I started thinking, what on earth have I let myself in for? The instructor was great though and showed us how to use the segway. He let us go at our own pace so we could gain confidence.
It was a very strange feeling. You made the Segway go by leaning forward, then backwards to go back and to stop you just had to find your centre. Stopping was the more tricky part. I think some of our group found it easier than others, but we all got the hang of it after a bit of practice.
It was good fun weaving in an out of the obstacles practicing, but it was even better when we got to take a tour through the village. You had to be careful of bumps or you might fall off, but no one in my group fell. I loved it best when we went off through the forest on a small path. It was great having a little trek through the trees and the beautiful surroundings.
I had a good laugh, lots of fun on my Segway experience and I would definitely recommend it. I always love having a go at something new.
Those were the 3 activities we chose to do as a family during our stay at Center Parcs and we loved every minute of them.
Disclosure “we were given these activities as part of our stay at Center Parcs, but all opinions are our own”
