Crab fishing and dinghy fun

The other day was another lovely summers day in Hampshire, so we decided to try something new. We took the dinghy and crab fishing line down to Key Haven to see what fun we could have.

The children immediately put their swimming costumes on and waded into the water. It was very stoney, a bit muddy, with lots of seaweed, but the kids didn’t seem to mind. They took their fishing net and looked to see what they could catch. Obviously they didn’t manage to catch anything like that, so they headed back for some dinghy fun.Fishing

This was BB’s first time trying rowing a boat. He did very well, but eventually got quite cross and frustrated that he couldn’t do it. Pinky and Boo very much enjoyed floating about in the boat and being pulled backwards and forwards by Granddad.Boating fun

BB eventually got in the water completely for a swim and splash about.Swimming

We then took the crab fishing line up to the bridge to try a bit of proper fishing. I had to help the children and eventually, after a bit of patience, did manage to catch a crab! It was great, the kids got very excited and named it Rosy, I have no idea why! This was their first experience of fishing. They were having to learn about waiting and being patient.crab fishing

The kids then went for another dip in the water and float in the boat whilst Granddad tried some more crab fishing. Granddad, did catch a crab too. We also enjoyed watching the seagulls dive into the water to catch their dinner, it was fascinating to see.

It was a lovely day together with lots of fun.
