Flower pots are fantastic for crafting. Terracotta pots come in lots of different sizes, can be easily painted on and are cheap. I bought some terracotta pots from a local garden centre for just pennies each. This is what we made with them.
You need per prince/princess:
- 1 large terracotta pot
- 1 small terracotta pot
- Paint
- Polystyrene ball
- Pipe cleaner
- Beads
- Gems/stickers to decorate
- Wool
- Glue
- Pens
- 1 stick
How to make Prince and Princess pots
First we painted the two pots.
Once the paint was dry, we decorated the pots with stickers for the princess dresses and BB decorated his like a princes coat.
Next, we used a polystyrene ball and drew on the face, stuck on stickers for eyes and coloured in the back of the hair.
We tied strands of wool together and glued them on top for the hair too.
The small pot sits on the bottom, the larger pot sits upside down on top of the small pot. We poked a stick into the bottom of the polystyrene ball (head) and it sat nicely through the hole in the large upside down pot. You may also like to glue it in place to make it more secure.
We then threaded some beads onto either end of a pipe cleaner and bent the ends over for the arms.
We glued the arms in place on the pot, under and round the back of the head. We also made a little paper crown for the prince and threaded some small beads on a wire to make a tiara for the princesses.
I absolutely love how these pots have turned out. They look fantastic and the children enjoyed making them and getting creative, especially with decorating the dresses and making the tiaras.
