Autumn is over and winter has well and truly arrived, with its cold short days. I am guessing lots of people don’t like winter, however, I don’t mind it. I like wrapping up in a cosy warm jumper, going for a walk in the very fresh morning air, surrounded by frost. I love coming home for a cosy hot chocolate with my children after playing outside. I love the expectation and excitement the children have waiting and wishing for snow. I love spending Sunday at home, indoors, when it’s raining outside and we all play together, followed by a nice family sunday roast.
Yes, it is cold and often wet, but there are definitely nice bits to winter too.
I have previously written a bucket list for summer and autumn. I loved these lists so much, I have now written a winter list too. Here’s our list of fun for the winter…..
- Make christmas lanterns (like our halloween ones, only xmas)
- Make christmas cards together
- Make paper chains
- Make reindeer biscuits
- Lots of other cooking (still to be decided)
- Have fun with our elf on the shelf
- Visit santa
- Go on a christmas fairy light walk
- Do lots of other christmas crafts (use pinterest for more ideas)
- Sing and play lots of music (especially christmas music, as it’s not christmas without music)
- Go on a winter nature walk
- Do lots puddle jumping
- Hopefully go sledging
- Hopefully make a snowman & have general snowy fun
- Make a den
- Make snowman pictures and crafts
- Visit the library more
- Have lots of story time together
- Do some outdoor chalking
- Go to the park
- Have a games afternoon
- Do some science experiments

This is my core winter fun list, however, I am hoping to add to this too, and of course, it goes without saying, spend lots of family time together and have a great christmas!
