Craft party
My twin girls turned 4 this week and my son turned 6, yes, on the same day! (But that’s a whole other story). In previous years my children have had joint parties, but I thought now my son is getting older, it wasn’t quite fair. So this year my girls had a craft party on the saturday and BB had a bowling party on the sunday. It has been a very hectic week!
Craft party
I am very lucky to have a mum who loves crafts, so, it was my mum who organised these crafts (thank you mum). The children decorated a photo frame, made a shrinky dink necklace and decorated a bag. They were very easy, non messy crafts for a party.
Photo frame decorating
First of all the children were given a photo frame….heart for the girls and a robot for the boys. There were stickers and gems to stick on (I think that was everyones favourite part), and a hello kitty plaster of paris mold to colour and glue on. I took a photo of each child, printed it off and put it in the frame for them. I think they looked very effective and all the children loved them!
Shrinky dink necklaces
Next the girls coloured in a fairy shrinky dink pendant with pencils. The boys made a key ring dinosaur and rocket. This was very quick and easy. Once coloured we put them in the oven for a moment to shrink down and added some elastic or keyring.
Colour your own bags
Lastly, the girls were given a bag each to colour or draw on. The boys had a pencil case. They used special crayons to colour on fabric, which we then ironed when finished to seal it all. There were lots of lovely coloured hello kitty’s and some children also chose to write their names on the other side.

The kids really seemed to enjoy making these crafts, but as always with little children, you can’t keep their attention for too long, so we broke the crafts up with a couple of party games, pass the parcel and pin the bow on hello kitty. Everyone loved the games, music, dancing and playing too.
I wanted to keep the food simple, so we had chicken nuggets or fish fingers followed by chocolate cake with chocolate custard. All a big winner!
We sang happy birthday twice (once for pinky and once for boo). They both wanted a hello kitty birthday cake, so I made one in purple and one in pink. I always like my children to have their own birthday cake.

The children took their crafts and cake home in a homemade hello kitty or dinosaur party bag.
I think the party was a hit. The children all seemed to have a wonderful time, there were no tears from anyone and my girls spent the day running round the house saying “this is the best party ever”!!! Well, I don’t think I could do better than that!
It was hard work, especially with making 3 birthday cakes (as I made another cake for my son the next day), but it was a really lovely, special 4th birthday party!

Looks great fun but hard work
Great idea for a party! i’ve never seen those shrinks dink things before, they look amazing!
Thank you, the shrinky dinks are good
It looks like a brilliant party – must have been a hit! You should be available for hire

It was hard work, but my mum is great, so lot of the work was shared

Well done you!! Craft parties are lots of fun, but I know how exhausting they are. The cakes look fab and what fun activities. There is nothing better than hearing the party girl, or girls in your case, saying its the best party ever. Yeh!
Thank you, yes, those comments from my girls do make you think it’s all worth the effort
Oh my! This looked like the best birthday party ever! Well done you for pulling it all off – you make it all look so effortless! E x

Well done Karen! I love your party theme. It is lovely and makes a change from an afternoon in soft play. It is great that they all had something to take home and keep that they had made themselves. Brilliant! I hope your son had as much fun when he went bowling x
Thank you, yes BB loved his bowling party too

Great, I hope has a good time
What a brilliant idea. Finding it harder as my daughter is getting older to choose a party that suits her personality and interests, think this is a fab idea and will keep in mind for her next birthday
Thank you
A lovely idea for a birthday. I suppose one good thing about all three having their birthdays on the same day is you only have to arrange one party, pretty perfect really! x #ShareWithMe
Thank you x
I love that party! Wonderful creative ideas and you’ve just reminded me about shrinky dinks which I used to adore – they’re awesome!! I love miniaturised stuff! Fab parenting – a lot of dedication there making two identical cakes. #CreativeChallenge
