Play ideas

Play is so important to children and family life, I thought it would be a good idea to provide some ideas for play.

There are so many different types of play, the world is your oyster. Just make sure you have fun doing it……

Imaginative play

  • Dressing up
  • Pretend tea party
  • Play shops
  • Play hospitals, make sick beds for teddies with bandages etc
  • Play cafe’s – you could make menus and do some cooking too
  • Make a den – pretend it’s a castle
  • Give your children a few props and see what they do
  • Cardboard boxes – you can make cars, boats, cookers, playhouse, dolls beds
  • Lego
  • Building blocks/construction

Outdoor play

  • Climb a tree
  • Jump in muddy puddles
  • Ride a bike
  • Ride a scooter
  • Skipping
  • Play ball – catch, football, bouncing into a container
  • Have races
  • Make a den
  • Visit a park
  • Go for a walk
  • Do a scavenger hunt
  • Blow bubbles
