Monsters – weekly theme prompt
This weeks theme for activities, fun and play prompt is monsters. Most children talk about, imagine and play with monsters at some point, so I thought this would be a good theme to inspire children’s imaginations.
You can get very creative with the monsters theme. You could read monster stories or children could make them up themselves, you could craft, play games, make playdoh monsters or cake monsters. Here are my monster theme suggestions to give you some inspiration.
10 ideas for monster activities
Children love lots of sensory/messy play, though it’s not for the parents who can’t stand mess, but if you are up for the challenge, how about some Muck monster sensory play like the one here at No time for flash cards?
If you want to add a bit of math learning whilst playing with monsters, take a look at The measured mom. There are loads of monster math games and activities.
I love these 3D paper monsters from Inspirational laboratories.
There are lots of monster ideas at Family theme days, but I particularly like the idea of the monster drawing game.
You could do some cooking and make some monster rice krispie treats like these from The Happier homemaker

This monster painting idea from Kids activities blog is fantastic. They look so good and fun.
This monster marble game from A mom with a lesson plan I think is great, lots of fun and could provide learning too.
This is a great monster craft and alphabet game to help kids learn their letters from How wee learn.
How about going on a nature walk collecting nature, then bringing your collection home to create some nature monsters like these at Twinlife online.
Dressing up is always fun, so why not make some monster feet to get creative and play dress up at the end of it too, like these from Little running teacher.
I hope you all grab some inspiration here and have fun with some monster themed fun and activities this week.
