Mummy’s little monsters plant pot craft
The weather has not been too good lately, so I thought it was about time to get crafting again. We wanted to grow some plants and make monsters too, so this is what we came up with…….
Monsters plant pot craft
Equipment
- 2 Plant pots (per monster)
- 1 Plant
- 1 Photograph
- Glue or double-sided tape (I used double-sided tape)
- Paper/card
- Pens
- Stickers (optional)
- Cord/string
- Cotton reel (optional)
How to make a Mummy’s little monster plant pot
- First take a photograph of your little monster pulling a monster face and cut it out to the size of the plant pot.
- Stick the photograph on the pot using double-sided tape (I found that easier than glue), then put it to one side.
- Cut out a piece of paper the size of the monsters tummy and draw and colour their tummy. Or you could stick stickers on it. Decorate however you fancy, it’s your chance to get creative!
- Turn the 2nd pot upside down and make 2 holes in the bottom and thread 2 pieces of cord/string through the holes. Tie a knot on the underside.
- Thread cotton reels onto the cord/string if using and tie them on to secure. If you don’t have cotton reels, you could just draw some monster legs/feet and stick them on instead.
- Cut out some arms and decorate. For this we used some foam, but you could use card.
- Stick the arms onto the pot using double-sided tape.
- Stick the tummy onto the upside down pot.
- Plant the plant into the pot with the photograph on carefully and then place it onto the body pot and there you have you little monster pot!

Optional…….On the other side of the pots we also added a nice photo and nice children drawings (i.e. not monster) too, so we can alternate. I like both sides.
I think these pots look very effective and were really good fun to make. You can get as creative as you want to. Do be careful when you water the plant as the water will drip down inside the bottom of the other pot. I placed a cup inside to catch some of the drips.
These monsters would make great Fathers day gifts or Mothers day gifts, or how about a teachers gift?
