Having musical fun
My children absolutely love music. They sing all the time, even on the toilet! Hence our musical themed week has been fantastic.
We made instruments which you can read about here. Once we finished, of course the next great thing to do is play with them. We put on some music and got dancing. We all had so much fun, I joined in too, even though I was told by my girls “you’re being silly mummy, I like you being silly” (hmm, thanks, I was just trying to dance!).
We all laughed, jumped around and I have to say got quite a bit of exercise in the process. The kids learned about rhythm, musical beats and listening, whilst having a lot of fun. I would seriously recommend trying this, I haven’t had such a good laugh in ages!
BB adores listening to music and one of his favourite things to do is be a DJ. He plays his CDs and talks through his microphone, telling his sisters about it. He also loves giving parties, so the children all got playing musical statues and bumps, then threw in some musical letters for good measure.
Next, they all got out their music box, which is a box I keep all the musical toys in. It consists of some recorders, a mini keyboard, bells, maracas, whistles, a toy trumpet, xylophone and basically anything remotely musical. This box has certainly been used, they do make quite a racket with it (especially the recorders), but I believe it is good for children to have free musical play, until one day they might like to learn properly, I am hoping then it will become less painful on the ears!
I may have suggested a musical themed week, but the only input I had, was making the instruments, all the rest of the fun, was what the children made up themselves.
Although, their musical fun is very noisy at times, I still love seeing them play like this, they are being creative, imaginative, dancing, exercising, listening and basically having a fantastic time!

I take my daughter to a music class once a week, and she absolutely loves it! We do quite a bit of singing at home too, although I’m not allowed to join in…!
Lol! I know the feeling mine don’t always want me joining in either
