Puddle walk
There are times when it can be difficult to get out of the house with children, the weather has either been freezing cold lately or wet. My children start climbing the walls if they don’t get out for a run around, so the other day I had had enough, the rain had stopped, so I told the children to put their coats and wellies on, “we’re going on a puddle walk”.
We headed out to find the best puddles we could. Admittedly I knew we would not find any amazing ones as we were only walking round the housing estate and through the park, but it was still an adventure to them. They love hunting for puddles and trying to be the first to find the biggest puddle!
The children ran up the road, hunting for puddles. I have to say, my children can get excited over the smallest of things and yes, this time was no different. Every puddle they found, they excitedly called to each other “here’s one….look, I’ve found one!” then I look and it’s the tiniest amount of water you could see, yet they still loved it!
On our walk we did find some bigger puddles to jump in and splash through. It was lovely to hear their squeals of delight with every puddle they found. We may not have been out for long, but it was great to get some fresh air and exercise whilst watching the children’s faces and fun with the simple, basic childhood pleasure of jumping in puddles.

Monkey would be the same – any puddle will do no matter how small #CountryKids
Haha, yes, the small draw almost as much excitement
Hi! I’ve popped over from Country Kids. There’s lots of fun to had even when the weather is pants.Peppa Pig always had the right mentality didn’t she?
Definitely, Peppa pig has got it right
Love to see some welly action. We use ours for welly wanging competitions on sunny days! #countrykids
Ah, yes, must try that in the summer
Puddle walks are good fun aren’t they. Mind you, my son always gets his trousers wet due to over enthusiastic puddle jumping! he does have waterproof trousers but its usually a hassle to get him to wear them I often give in
Yes, my son always gets wet trousers too
What a fun idea – ‘Let’s go on a puddle hunt!’
Thanks, we had fun
Fantastic! All kids love puddles regardless of the size. Definitely entertains mine – the only problem being that little one usually wants to sit in the puddles too!
Lol, oh no! Time for some waterproof trousers?
I love your kids they are so unspoilt and throw themselves into simple activities. You are giving them such a wonderful childhood Karen. Love your attitude and theirs. Three cheers to let kids be kids and country kids!
Aw, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I don’t know about not being spoilt, but they certainly love all the activities we do, simple or otherwise, they totally engage in it! x
We love puddle jumping! #whatsthestory
