Valentines heart paper chains
Valentine day is coming up soon. I don’t feel it’s really a time for children, but I quite like doing the odd heart themed craft. After reading about making paper chains at Truly madly kids. I thought it might be nice to make some heart paper chains. I set it all up for when the children came home from school, as it’s a great very quite after school activity.
First, you fold the paper over one way then the other like making a fan. You don’t need to be precise but you do need to be roughly accurate otherwise they won’t work out to be a chain.
Once folded into a fan, draw a heart shape on the top so that each edge lines up with the edge of the folded paper.
Cut out the heart being careful not to completely cut the edge or the hearts will not be joined.
Open out the paper and you have a heart paper chain or heart garland.
This was great scissor practice and it took quite a lot of thought to make sure they drew the heart in the right place and didn’t cut the edge. We did have a few go wrong, but that’s all part of the learning process. Here are the best ones we made…..

Grace says – these look great and I can definitely see myself making some of these for Valentine’s Day. I better get on making ALL the Valentines Day cards that I want to send………….. Thanks for linking to #minicreations
