Bully and the Shrimp book review

Bully and the Shrimp book review

We love books, so when we received the Bully and the Shrimp by Catherine Allison and Kim Geyer, from Parragon books we were very pleased. The bull and the shrimp book review

This is a really lovely book exploring the issue of bullying. It is about a boy called Noah Shrimpton who moves to a new school where he finds himself being picked on. He uses his personal journal to draw pictures of how he feels. Through the story Noah finally finds his voice, gains confidence and stands up to the bully.

This book is perfect for school aged children. It is a beautifully illustrated book sensitively exploring the issue of bullying. It demonstrates to children how they may feel being bullied and how to gain confidence and stand up for themselves. The bully and the shrimp book illustrations

I loved all the pictures, I know it inspired my children. BB kept looking at all the fantastic drawings and talking about how someone may feel if they were picked on. He then went on to tell me about how someone called him a name at school today and it didn’t feel very nice. The book became a great tool for opening up discussions about being picked on and bullying, the feelings associated with it and how it could be dealt with.

This book is written in a great way children can relate to. It deals with the sensitive issues of bullying, from helping the reader open up if they are a victim, to hopefully helping some readers recognise when they may be picking on someone, perhaps unintentionally.
