Spot a lot animal escape book review
We love books, so were very excited to receive this lovely book “Spot a lot”, by Steve Smallman and Nicola Slater from Parragon books. It is a beautifully illustrated picture book, with a lot of action, which makes it perfect for my 4-year-old girls.
It is about trouble at the zoo. The animals have gone missing and it’s time for you to assist the animal keeper to find the animals. It is a very busy book, which makes it fun for spotting and counting. There is so much to see, count, explore and spot on every page. The animals are often quite camouflaged, so it’s not as easy as you may think (even for me), making it a very fun way for children to explore and mummy and daddy to enjoy too!
My girls really loved reading the book. We first read it together, looking for all the animals and counting them. The girls squealed with delight every time they spotted one! It was wonderful to see them get so animated and involved in the book. They used lots of observational skills as well as counting skills.
Afterwards they spent ages looking at it on their own. As there are so many things to spot on each page, it kept them amused for ages.
It is a lovely bright, colourful and interactive book that inspires children’s imagination, as well as encouraging a love for books, counting skills and observational skills. Adults can have fun with this book too! I would definitely recommend it.

It’s a good book, so much to see and look for, I think it would be quite a while before everything is spotted
