Outdoor fun

Yay! It looks like spring may be on its way! We have had a glimpse of some warm sunshine at last.

Last weekend for us was an incredibly busy weekend with my three children having their birthday, which also meant two birthday parties!  On the sunday, the children opened their presents (just like christmas all over again). From their aunt and uncle, they got a swing ball, from Nana and Grandad they got some bug hunting things and from us they got a climbing frame. The weather was gorgeously warm and sunny, so out they went to play in the garden while I iced yet another birthday cake.

I like the children to have plenty of toys and play equipment in the garden to encourage them outside, so we thought the climbing frame would be perfect. They loved helping daddy and grandad assemble it, though how much actual help they were is debatable. Assembling a climbing frame

They spent ages hunting round the garden for worms, ants and anything else they could find. They kept running into the kitchen shouting “mummy, look what I found” excitedly and most of the time it was a shrivelled up worm! (Urgh!) But still, praise was given and off they went to find more.

When the climbing frame was finally ready, they were off, up and down, climbing, sliding off, balancing and jumping. My heart was in my mouth a few times seeing them so high up, but I believe you should let them do these things, how else will they learn? I am very pleased to see, the climbing frame is a hit (a great eBay purchase!).Climbing frame play

Next came the swing ball. It is a swing ball especially for little ones, with a soft ball on it. They enjoyed having a go, though it will take a little while for them to get the hang of it properly. I think we will spend time practicing over the summer.Playing swing ball

It was such a lovely day, we even got our new table and chairs out and had lunch outside. It was absolutely wonderful to finally be spending time outdoors again. I can’t wait for the summer now.

They all had a wonderful birthday on a beautifully sunny day, with lots of presents and fun. The climbing frame is fantastic and I believe, will provide hours more fun over the next few years.

  1. I can remember having a climbing frame like this when I was young. We had so much fun playing on it, and would spend hours climbing all over it. It is so great be able to get outside now the weather is getting better.

  2. Aww happy belated birthday wishes to the 3 of them

  3. Hooray for the sunshine on their special day! This just proves you don’t have to go far for some great fun outside in the sunshine. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

    • Thank you, it was wonderful having such great weather on their birthday :)

  4. This looks fantastic. I will have to get one for my kids for our back yard when they are a bit older. I love fun things in the back so they can play but we don’t have to necessarily pack up and leave the house. love the pictures. Looks like they are having so much fun. We really need to do something with the back of our yard as we moved in they just laid turf and we have done nothing with it yet. lovely play outdoors.
