Inspiring
It has been quite an inspiring week. Firstly I have been on a bit of a health kick, which has entailed having fruit smoothies for breakfast and going running, well, maybe walking/running, but hey, we all have to start somewhere. I have achieved 6 runs in the last 2 weeks which is fantastic for me, I just hope I can keep it up. This I have found has really inspired my son. BB has watched me eat fruit and has said he is going to be healthy like me and will have fruit everyday! That’s great, he had stopped having a piece of fruit with breakfast a while ago, but I have inspired him to go back to it. Also BB asked to go running with me the other day. I would love to take him some time, I’m sure he’ll do far better than me, maybe at the weekend we could go together.
It is amazing how much we as parents inspire our children. They watch us, take notes when we don’t even notice, process them and often try to copy. For this very reason I have not used the word ‘diet’ in front of my children because I don’t want them to think that is what they should do. To be honest I’m not on a diet anyway, just want to be a bit healthier, which has to be a good thing to inspire in my children.
Boo appears to have been inspired by my encouragement of nature collecting. Totally unaided yesterday she picked up loads of leaves at school and put them in her bag to bring home. She happily pulled them out of her bag grinning away, telling me how she collected all these beautiful leaves. We now have plans for crafting with them, as she was so proud of them.
Additionally, this week I have noticed BB has been writing in his ‘secret diary’, well actually not very secret as he showed me everything when I asked. It is wonderful to see BB so inspired to write. In his diary is a couple of poems from our holidays and several other very random things. I was so impressed reading those poems, I may feature them on here if he agrees to it. I love to see him write totally unprompted.
All in all it has been a good week with lots happening. How has your week been?

What a lovely word! I spotted my daughter writing and doodling this morning, but she is now at the age where a hand discreetly moves over the words and pictures as I come closer
Aw, it’s lovely seeing them write unprompted, but I dread the day they don’t want to show me x
Ahhh what a lovely post this is!
How fantastic that your health kick is rubbing off on your son, if thats not motivation to keep going I don’t know what is!?!?
Your little girl sounds adorable I love the idea of her being so excited about picking up all the leaves and of course crafting with them
Thank you very much, it has felt like a good uplifting week
Great word and a very inspiring post. Lovely to inspire your children and to recognise how much we have the power to do so. How lovely to find BB writing away, too
Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Inspiring your children is wonderful and I am very pleased BB has been writing on his own
What a fantastic word and a great week for you!
Thanks x
Ah sounds lovely and it is so true that kids copy and want to emulate their parents. Definitely a good idea to avoid the term diet and lovely you’re inspiring BB to be a bit more healthy too! His writing sounds fab too
xx #wotw
Thanks, kids really do copy us more than we think x
That’s a fantastic word for the week and it sounds like it has been a great week for you all. I agree that avoiding the word ‘diet’ is probably a good idea and glad that it is inspiring BB to eat more fruit. My eldest has also been enjoying collecting leaves this week – one of the lovely things about this time of year
Leaves are good fun to collect aren’t they? x
You’re so right about children being inspired by what they see us doing. My husband loves running and runs in local 5k ‘Park Runs’ every Saturday morning and my five year old son has now done 9 runs with him! It’s unbelievable really but it makes us so proud! It really sounds like you’re doing so well with your new healthy regime. I meant to start walking regularly recently but it hasn’t really happened. One day… #wotw
That’s great that your 5yr old runs with his dad, you are right to be proud
Before when I was still running I started with walk run too. Slowly I was able to build my strength and was running the whole stretch of our prom w/o stopping! Sadly I got injured so I have to stopped and never came back yet. So this is a good start. Just starting is hard so well done you =) #wotw
Thank you, I am getting better, just completed my 7th run/walk today. I hope you manage to get back to running again when you feel up to it
