DIY

DIY

DIYEaster holidays equals (apart from family time) a long weekend break. What is the most popular thing to do on a long weekend (apart from the easter egg hunt)? Yes…..DIY!

This week, for us has been about DIY. Our bathroom badly needed redoing, so daddy and grandad spent the week stripping out the old bathroom and refitting the new. This is always a difficult task when you have small children. Keeping kids amused, out-of-the-way and out of the mess whilst trying to be productive can be very tricky.

We manage this by letting the children watch and help at times when it’s possible and safe. They love getting involved, they feel grown up and part of it.

A spot of DIY can also produce some lovely role play for kids. This week they have had all their play tools out, pretending to be just like daddy. Then when BB was allowed to use the proper electric screw driver to drill some holes in some cardboard, he was in his element! It is always such a joy to watch.

Whilst daddy and grandad were upstairs in the bathroom, I was in the garden with nana planting plants in our new border, using garden on a roll. It was fantastic, it was just like planting by letters! I will be writing about this tomorrow, so watch this space if you want to hear more. The children got involved  and loved helping in the garden.

All in all, this week has been very productive with DIY, despite the bathroom being far from finished, the garden is looking great and I also got to refurbish our garden table and chairs. Yay, our garden is all ready for the summer!
