Where does the time go?
It is that time of year again where I like to reflect on the past few years, yes this weekend my children will turn another year older! Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday I was heavily pregnant with my son, desperately trying to get the house sorted before he arrived (as it was flooded 7 months before this). We just about managed it (as much as was necessary anyway), he let hubby and I have just 1 day in our ‘sorted’ house before making his appearance! That was very generous of him don’t you think? Nothing changes, he’s still rather impatient now!
Seven years ago I looked like this (sorry about the poor quality):
Then my gorgeous son was born weighing 7lb 7oz. Our life changed forever, it became richer, fuller and just amazing. Our little boy brought us so much joy, love, laughter, tears, exhaustion and fun.
(I look completely different in that photo by the way as my face swelled up during labour, no idea why!)
Our amazing son has grown so much over the last seven years, both physically and in ever other way. He is amazing, I think he teaches me more than I teach him. He is such a sweet considerate boy who thinks of others, he loves reading and learning. He is so inquisitive with a thirst for information. His imagination is unbelievable and we love him to bits!
Exactly two years after our son was born, along came his sisters. Five years ago I looked like this:
I was very large, I did actually get bigger than I was in that photo and BB’s twin sisters arrived on his second birthday (well, actually one arrived 15 mins before his birthday, the other on it)! It was absolutely amazing and the most exhausting experience I have ever had! Giving birth (naturally) to twins is hard work! However, holding two new babies in your arms at the same time is wonderful and no words can possibly come close to describing it! My beautiful baby girls weighing 6lb 1oz and 6lb 8oz were two little bundles of joy. I was absolutely terrified of what was to come, but I couldn’t believe how lucky I was and so fortunate, to have two such beautiful baby girls and a gorgeous son!
Five years have passed since then and my babies have grown into amazing little girls. They have started school and are loving it. They enjoy life to the full, they play, giggle and love each other as well as their big brother, they are full of character with a lively zest for life. Boo is very carefree, loves cuddles and trying new things. Pinky loves art and craft and has amazing perseverance. I cannot imagine our life without them, we love them so much and again they are both teaching me a lot about life!
I cannot begin to go through everything that has happened over the last seven years, so I thought I’d put together a few photos as a wonderful reminder of our happy family.
It is lovely to reflect on the last few years, the good times and the tough times and now we look forward to this weekend of parties, cakes and fun. I wonder what the next year will hold for us?

Lovely collection of photos, I also love to reflect and in my career (as a Nurse) we are constantly told to reflect on things so I find myself doing it frequently. I hope you have a lovely family weekend

I used to be a nurse too, maybe thats why I like to reflect?
I loved reading this, Karen. It must all feel so fast, yet also like a lifetime’s happened in seven years. Hope they all have wonderful birthdays and you have a fun time x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
It seems like only yesterday, and yet so much has happened

How lovely to be able to celebrate all of your childrens birthdays in one weekend! Have a great time with them. Lovely photos of you all. #wotw
It is very stressful celebrating all at once, but something nice about it too, as all three have a connection together
Aww! What beautiful photos! Such a lovely family!
I hope they have wonderful birthdays x
Thank you x
Wow, a brilliant recap – I love that picture of the three of them up to their necks in sand! Some serious digging took place there! #wotw
Thanks, that pic is one of my favourite beach memories
What a beautiful post Karen, filled to the brim with glorious memories. Can’t believe how different you looked when you were pregnant!
Thanks, pregnancy has changed me I think
Lovely! xxx
Thank you x
Awww its nice to see how you were before! Lovely story of pregnancy and births! #wotw
Thank you x
Happy birthday to your lovely children, I hadn’t realised they were actually the same day, no wonder you have to manage a party across both age groups. Lovely photos and reflections, the best is yet to come! #MagicMoments
Thank you, yes the same day issue does complicate matters x
What a beautiful family you have! I completely agree with you about how children can teach us more than we teach them. My daughter is only a year old and she’s given me a world’s worth of knowledge already! Thank you for sharing and happy birthday to your children:)
Thank you, I love learning from my children
Aww these are lovely photos! What a great weight the girls were! I think the most I’ve heard twins weigh was around 5lbs. It really is amazing how fast the time goes by.
Thank you, Yes, over 6lb is unusual for twins, but I have a friend whose twins were 7lb!
Oh they are gorgeous pictures and how amazing that all three almost share a birthday! unbelievable! At least when they are adults they can never forget their sibling’s birthdays ha! time does fly and there is nothing like their birthdays to remind you of that. Have a lovely time celebrating x
Thank you x
Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories! Nobody quite recalls a child’s earliest years than a mother
I never want to forget
What a wonderful collection of photographs, a very happy birthday to your gorgeous children x
Thank you x
What a gorgeous post, with so many lovely happy photos! Incredible that the twins were born on their brother’s birthday, and makes that day so very special. Lovely lovely post! Xx
It is a special time in this house, thank you x
You have such a lovely family, lovely photos. happy birthday to them all x #letkidsbekids
Thank you very much x
What a gorgeous set of photos. I’m very jealous of how many family snaps you have…we don’t have any proper ones (just one with me photo bombing to try and get one).
Happy birthday to them ..nice novelty for the Pinky and Boo to be on different days, even if only by 15 minutes!
Thank you x
Your family has such a sweet story! I can’t believe all your babies have the same birthday (almost). I thought it was awesome that my husband and two daughters were all born on the 11th day of a month. I love your family pictures and yes, it goes by so fast.
Thank you, it is strange how things happen. All being born on the 11th is great too…easier to remember
What beautiful memories! Every shirt and and cry mean so much to a mother, and only us have that kind of understanding. #LetKidsBeKids
That’s true!
Time does go so fast! Your twins were very good weights considering they were twins. It must have been exhausting carrying them1
I was huge by the end and did struggle to look after the toddler from about 36 weeks
Aaah time goes by SO fast doesn’t it?? My tiny boys are TWO on Friday!! It’s been the fastest two years of my life — without question. I’m trying to hold onto every second but it’s slipping through my grasp like sand. So lucky though aren’t we? Being a parent of twins is such a blessing. #MultipleMadness

It really does go so fast, I can’t believe it’s been 5 and 7 years! And yes we are very lucky!
