In search of traditional childhood fun in a modern world

Play trail walk

Moors valley country parkLast weekend, we went to the New Forest for a few days. We had the best family break together.

The New Forest is such an amazing place to take children, there is so much to do, whatever the weather. I particularly like it in autumn, it can be so beautiful, with all the amazing range of  colours.

This time we went to Moors Valley Country Park. It was our second visit there. Earlier this year we did the Gruffalo Trail, which was amazing. This time we did the play trail.

The play trail entails a beautiful walk through the forest, with various play equipment built-in along the way, for the children to climb on, run around and explore. It is fantastic! My  children had so much fun climbing, balancing and exploring. It was wonderful watching them learn, have fun and get fresh air and exercise, in such lovely surroundings, amongst nature. Exactly what childhood should be about.

There was tons of fun had climbing, rather high, at times. My heart was in my mouth, but I held back and let BB climb to the top!

There was balancing fun along log beams, pretending they were at gymnastics.

We had fun climbing spiders webs and riding giant spiders, which was rather appropriate for this time of year!

And of course, there was also the complimentary muddy puddle jumping, always a winning activity!

This was one of my favourite family days out, everyone entertained in a very natural way outdoors, exercise, mud and nature. What more could you want? And all this for the price of the car park ticket!

If you live anywhere near Moors Valley Country Park, I would seriously recommend it.
