Cafe – Weekly theme prompt

Cafe – Weekly theme prompt

Weekly theme play promptCafe is this weeks theme prompt for activities, play, fun and craft.

Lots of children love playing with pretend food. They love pretending to cook and serve you all sorts of obscure combinations. All I can say is, thank goodness it is pretend, or goodness knows what I would have had to eat over the past few years!

Kids love cooking, they like playing shops and making creations. I thought a cafe themed week would be a great way to inspire children to get creative with food, imaginary play, craft and cooking. Here are some ideas to help …..

I absolutely love the idea of this outdoor pretend cafe, buying cheap ceramics of proper cups and saucers and teapots etc to make tea and coffee and have a tea party from At home with Ali

You could have a play dough cafe. I think this play dough cupcake cafe at the Craft train looks amazing and so much fun.

It’s great fun to cook with children, it may be messy and take a lot of effort, so be prepared, but kids love it, therefore, it’s usually worth the mess and effort. Why not try this yummy banana flapjack from We3Three?

If your children like dressing up it may be good to make a homemade chefs hat like this one at The foodies

You could make your own ice cream parlour and there are loads of fantastic ideas for lots of popsicles to make at the Cookie puzzle  to seek in your parlour.

Here’s another fantastic recipe to try with the children to sell in their pretend cafe. Easy apple biscuits from In the playroom blog.

Those are my 10 idea prompts for some cafe fun and play. There is lots you could do. Suggest cafe to your children and see what they come up with themselves, I often find my kids love a prompt to inspire them with their own great ideas.

I hope you have a great week. Let me know how you get on.
